The Syracuse Neighborhood Olympics
|
What: Believe In Syracuse is showing off Syracuse's Neighborhoods for the premier places to live that they are and giving you a reason to brag about where you live by holding the first annual Syracuse Olympics. Just like all the countries of the world enter teams into the International Olympics to compete in various events and show national pride, we want all the neighborhoods in the greater Syracuse area (both city and suburbs) to enter teams into the Syracuse Olympics to compete in events and show neighborhood pride. This event is FREE of charge, and anybody of any age and any place of residence is welcome to join in the fun. There will be four events – Bocce Ball, Volleyball, Cornhole, and Kickball – in lieu of medals, the winners of these events will receive volunteers to come beautify their neighborhood.
When: The first annual Syracuse Olympics will take place Saturday August 6th – coinciding with the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in Brazil. The games will start at 11am and last for several hours, then culminate in a Closing Ceremony that will involve eating, drinking, and networking as well as a film competition and the honoring of our athletic victors. Where: Cummings Field, Eastwood - Edtim Rd, Syracuse, NY 13206. |

(3) Professional athletes from the Silver Knights, Chiefs, and Crunch will race in a wild obstacle course. (4) There will be a scavenger hunt designed to show of the highlights, businesses, venues, and landmarks of the Eastwood neighborhood. (5) Some of Syracuse's best food trucks will be selling their food. (6) There will be a Closing Ceremony that will involve lots of food, drinks, fun, and networking as well as a short film competition where each neighborhood will make a 3 minute film about themselves.
