This Thursday at 5:30 we're opening the doors to our organization for all of you. The goal is to provide you with the opportunity to learn about four of our committees and four projects that will convert our energy and enthusiasm for Syracuse into positive action.Click here to learn more about the meeting Thursday and RSVP.
- The Inaugural Syracuse Neighborhood Olympics - On August 6th, around the time of the summer games in Rio, Believe in Syracuse will host a different type of Olympics. The goal will be for neighborhoods to send delegations to compete for an award of a neighborhood beautification project to be organized by Believe in Syracuse. Participants will play volleyball, kickball, bocce and cornhole. OnThursday Paul Colabufo will provide everyone with an overview of this exciting event that will celebrate what makes each of our neighborhoods unique and vibrant.
- Our Community Organizing Program - Last fall, Believe in Syracuse held kickoff parties in parks on the Northside and on the South Side of Syracuse. That led to the formation of Northside and South Side Neighborhood Teams. Each team is developing and planning initiatives to both show off the positive qualities of their neighborhoods and organize on a grassroots level to make their neighborhoods better. These teams will be represented and meeting in breakout groups during the event this Thursday. If you live or work in either of those neighborhoods, this would be a great chance to get involved.
- Community Service Committee - Our community service committee has a new plan and structure for 2016. Their goal is to emphasize purposeful Volunteerism and programming that strengthen the community. In the immediate future they are seeking volunteers for the Syracuse Crawfish Festival that benefits Operation Northern Comfort and the Tiny Homes Project.
- Pro-Syracuse Committee - Their mission is to retain and attract residents to the Greater Syracuse Area. They have begun a soft launch on their Intern Local program which is designed to encourage local college students to connect with internship opportunities. The goal is for students going to school here to get connected in the community and for many of them to remain here in CNY for years to come.
Does one of these committees or community projects spark an interest for you? Do you have an idea for how we can take these programs to the next level? This is your chance to connect on these issues. We WANT your feedback. Believe in Syracuse is an inclusive organization for all residents in the Greater Syracuse Area and there are no requirements to attending the meeting.
All points of view are welcomed and encouraged. As a 3 year old organization, we are poised to grow. Get connected with us at a very exciting time for this organization. To learn more, click here or visit the URL's below:
