1. Come be a part of something big
To date we already have 200 RSVP's for this event! Last year there were 140 people at our first birthday party. This year the event will be even bigger. That makes it a great networking opportunity. It also makes it the perfect opportunity to get involved in a growing movement that is increasingly a force for positive change in Syracuse.
2. Check out Sky Armory
Sky Armory is Downtown Syracuse's newest event venue. Located at the corner of Clinton and Walton Streets in Armory Square, the whole team at Sky Armory is really invested in Downtown and in our community at large. The venue is elegant and is the perfect spot for our biggest event yet. Sky Armory will be selling food and drinks but it won't be a sit down dinner event. You can have a drink and some food if you like but it's not required. Food will be available in appetizer sized plates.
3. Fun atmosphere
One of the things that will make this event different from our events in the past is that there will be so many things you can do while you're at the event. You can listen to live music played by local cover band, The Mix Tapes, you can watch contestants compete in Syracuse Jeopardy, you can sit down and eat or you can go up to one of the tables at the event. Some of the tables include our membership table and the Say Yes to Education table, among a few others. It will be such a great chance to meet some people, learn about some great things happening locally and have a good time.
4. Watch us give out some awards
You may have heard that we're giving out the first ever Believe in Syracuse awards on January 29th! There will be two awards, one for an individual and one for an organization. The Individual is Mary Nelson who has organized on a grassroots level in her neighborhood on the south side for years. She has run an annual back to school backpack giveaway for over a decade. The organization is Say Yes to Education for their work in the city school district and for their scholarship program. You can learn more about both award recipients if you come to the event!
5. Celebrate Syracuse Area Progress
Over the past 4-8 years, Syracuse has gone through a period of transformation. Downtown rose from the ashes. New businesses have opened all across Syracuse. Non-profits have made a difference in the lives of so many people. From Say Yes to the Rescue Mission, from the Downtown Committee to Mary Nelson, so many people and organizations have done great work to make Syracuse a city on the rise.
Believe in Syracuse has accomplished a lot in two years. From being an idea I had one night while sitting in front of a computer screen, to becoming a 501c3 non profit with programs and committees, so much has changed. This event is the culmination of all that's happened for our organization in that period of time.
