This coming Wednesday, July 1st, Believe in Syracuse is hosting the event Syracuse Rising: Downtown. The event is sponsored by Carden Dotzler - Attorneys At Law. While organizing this event, it got us thinking about all the exciting progress that has happened to Downtown Syracuse. The Downtown Committee of Syracuse, whose Executive Director will be speaking at our event on Wednesday, just put out their Annual Report which details what has been happening Downtown over the past year. Below is our top 5 list of exciting pieces of progress that add up to a compelling case for all of us to believe in Downtown Syracuse. Check it out and don't forget to join us on Wednesday at Syracuse Rising: Downtown in Hanover Square! |
1) 18 New Retail Businesses Opened In Past Year
Between Retail, Residential, Commercial and Infrastructure Development, over $340 million is being invested in Downtown Development. That includes 18 new Downtown Retail Businesses. That includes startup businesses like Creole Soul Cafe on Jefferson St. Established entrepreneurs have taken their businesses to the next level with ventures like Modern Malt, Cafe Kubal, Funk 'n Waffles, Peppino's, The York and Byblos Bar & Grill. The owners of The Events Company has taken their event planning to the next level by opening up Downtown's newest event space Sky Armory. Clark's Ale House has reopened in their new location on Salina Street. |
2) Hotel Syracuse Revival
Ed Reilly, a Hotel Developer from Camillus has a long track record of successfully redeveloping hotels. Back in February he and community partners began work on a $60 Million project to bring Syracuse's most famous hotel to it's old glory. The work is scheduled to be completed by the Spring of next year. Former President's Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton all visited this Syracuse landmark. So did entertainers Bob Hope, Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones, John Lennon and Yoko Ono. |
3) Warren Street Revival Through Tech Businesses
4) Downtown Living On The Rise
5) Downtown Festivals Boost Vibrancy of Syracuse
Every year there is the Taste of Syracuse, the Arts and Crafts Festival, the Polish Festival, the NE Jazz and Wine Festival, the Blue Rain Eco-Festival, Empire Brew Fest, La Festa Italiana, Winterfest and more! This year Downtown added the first ever Salt City BBQ Festival.
These festivals have great food, great music, culture and entertainment. They are fun for people watching and to come together and celebrate our community.
Join us this coming Wednesday July 1st from 6-8PM at Maxwells in Hanover Square. Click here to learn more and RSVP. Downtown is Rising and we can't wait to see what progress will happen next.
