All you had to do was walk in the door of BC (a gourmet restaurant on Fayette St. in downtown Syracuse) and you knew immediately that this event was going to be very different from Believe In Syracuse's first event. I can't pin down exactly what the difference was; perhaps it was the exceptionally talented piano player who entertained us with some contemporary music as well as some cool jazz, perhaps it was the gourmet pizza put out for us to munch on, all I know is no matter what caused the change, it was tangible. A professional atmosphere pervaded the night - which is good because unlike our last event at Al's Wine and Whiskey, this was a networking event.
Believe In Syracuse believes everyone should love the city they live in, and we are spreading the word of what we are all about by holding various social and networking events. This particular event was networking in the most social of ways, and with a twist. The twist being that everyone filled out a survey telling what they were looking for and who they could help, so like minded people could be introduced.
I personally set up an employer at the Samaritan Center with a person looking for a job at a not-for-profit company, and I must say it felt good to help an organization and an individual so concerned with doing good in our community.
This way of networking turned out to be, from my perspective, an efficient way to get things done, leaving more time to socialize and really get to know your fellow Believers. While the beginning of the night was all business, the end of the night was all fun, and I walked away feeling that I had heard a lot of great stories and made a few new friends. I loved that we can get a large group of people out to socialize and a completely different yet equally large group of people to come out and network. Yet more proof that when you get out there and experience the people and places in Syracuse you are bound to walk away happy. Our city has a lot to offer, Believe In Syracuse is proving that each and every week. This is the time to go out and grab life by the horns. If you want to get involved, check out our Believe In Syracuse General Interest Meeting where we are going to set the groundwork that is going to change Syracuse for the better. It will be held on Wednesday June 26th at 5:30pm at the Soule Branch Library 101 Springfield Rd. Click Here for more info and then RSVP.
