Great new things are being built all around Central New York with this trend becoming ever apparent in Downtown Syracuse. With the vibrant downtown scene continuing to expand beyond Armory Square and local universities establishing an urban presence, it's not hard to see why this area is ripe for new development. One of the latest to begin construction is Creekwalk Commons located along the Onondaga Creekwalk, across Erie Boulevard from the Niagara Mohawk building downtown. This week Believe in Syracuse was invited by Sutton Real Estate to visit Creekwalk Commons to view their work in conjunction with Hueber-Breuer Construction and Dalpos Architects. During the walk through we viewed construction progress and renderings of the planned renovations that will create student apartments, as well as, new retail and restaurant space within the existing 324 West Water Street building. This is planned to be accomplished by adding an additional story to the existing building and renovating the interiors, to provide a high-end experience and downtown proximity ideal for students at the Syracuse University Warehouse, the SUNY Oswego Downtown Campus and the St. Joesph's College of Nursing. The developers noted they have spent time getting input from local student bodies about what amenities would best serve their residents. Based on this feedback, Creekwalk Commons plans to include a studio space free for students to use in their studies and other amenities. |
Special thanks to Valerie Alfieri and Linda Charles from Sutton Real Estate for reaching out to Believe in Syracuse and showing us around.
