I have attached a flyer looking for volunteers to help at Barry Park spreading mulch around the Meadowbrook Detention Basin. The pathway around the basin is approximately one mile and we have spread mulch on about a quarter of the path. The goal for this year is spread another quarter mile. The county has provided all the mulch for this project and the mulch is very good quality. The county crew has been great.
This Saturday, October 25 I am looking for 10-15 volunteers to help spread the mulch. We have a system developed but we need the volunteers to load the mulch on to the trucks, volunteers to push the mulch off the truck, and volunteers to rake the mulch on to the path. We keep the width 24” and pile the mulch 4” deep. I have hauled it in a wheelbarrow but this method is much quicker and more efficient. The city parks department will lend us some pitchforks and rakes to useSaturday. We are looking to start at 9:30a and work until 11:30a or until we are finished. We will meet at the Broad Street small parking lot and drive in from there. Try to be there at 9:30a.
I apologize for this late notice but the mulch was just delivered and I’d like to get the mulch spread before the snow starts to fly. Please look at your schedule and see if you have some time on Saturday morning to help us out. If you are able to help please email me so I can make sure we have enough tools. The last 2 times we spread the mulch our numbers were very light. We need volunteers to get our job done. So please consider helping out.
Hope to see some of you Saturday for some fall fun. Please feel free to send the attachment to any other groups that you are associated with. I am to old to spread 9 piles all alone.

The flowers on the end caps will be coming out this weekend or next. So enjoy the final days of the blooms. Thank you to all the volunteers who make this project a success.
