A huge thank you goes out to our event sponsors Say Yes to Education, Home Headquarters, and the Westcott Neighborhood Association. Thank you to Beer Belly for being a great host once again, and most importantly, thank you to all of you who came!
We made a big announcement last night about the future of Believe in Syracuse. Our organization has taken a big step forward! Channel 10 covered the event last night and the announcement. To watch the video of their coverage and then make a donation of $10, $20, or $40 to help fund Believe in Syracuse programs, Click Here.
Believe in Syracuse is now 20 months old, and after 20 months of promoting volunteerism and the positive aspects of the Syracuse area, we are excited to announce that we have officially become a Non-Profit Charitable Organization!
The IRS has accepted our application and we are now a 501c3! What does that mean? It means that we are exempt from paying taxes but more importantly it adds more organization and credibility that we will use to build even more consensus in our community about the importance of what we do. Also it means that if you donate to Believe in Syracuse, you can claim a deduction on your taxes. That's why I wanted to talk to you about making an investment in your community with a small donation to fund our programs.
Our mission is to promote the positive features of the Greater Syracuse Area and civic engagement within the Greater Syracuse community. We've accomplished a lot over the past 20 months, serving breakfast to the homeless and hungry, picking up trash in our neighborhoods and changing the conversation about Syracuse. The fight against cynicism and apathy will not be easy. With my boards oversight, I plan to step up our efforts and investment to reach more people with our message and get them involved in making Syracuse a better place. That's why I am asking you to donate $10, $25, $50 or whatever you can and together we'll keep Syracuse moving forward. It's a city on the rise.
